Solid Canadian Maple, Engraved in the Barn

Every board is solid Canadian hard maple, a full 3/4″ thick. That’s a sturdy, heavy board with a warm, clean grain that makes engraving pop. We’ve been laser engraving since 2018 in the Barn, just north of St. Gregor, SK, and we treat every name like it’s going on our own kitchen wall. Because, honestly, it could.

Pick the Style That Fits

Choose from small bar boards and apple shapes, everyday kitchen boards, paddles with handles, rounds, juice-groove carving boards and big statement boards for the holiday roast. Each style lists its size, so you can pick the one that suits the kitchen (and the cook) best.

• Small (bar boards, apple, wedding favour, small boards): great for cheese, lemons, little gifts and wedding favours
• Medium (everyday boards, paddles, rounds, steak and roast boards): the workhorses
• Large (juice groove, teardrop, utility, 14″ round): for the serious home cook

More Than a Personalized Cutting Board

Here’s a little secret: most people never cut on their personalized cutting board at all. They use it as a charcuterie or serving board when friends come over, or hang it up as kitchen wall art. All three are perfectly good uses, and we won’t tell anyone which one you pick.

How It Works

1. Pick your style. Choose the shape and size from the list.
2. Tell us what you’d like. A family name, a couple’s names and wedding date, initials, a favourite saying, or just describe your idea in the box. Have a recipe, handwriting, a photo or a logo? Upload it right on this page.
3. We send you a proof. We design it and e-mail you a proof before we engrave anything. Names, dates and sayings: design included. Old recipes, handwriting, photos and logos take a good bit of workshop magic to engrave crisply, so they carry a design fee (from $25), quoted up front before anything is touched.
4. We make it in the Barn. Once you say yes, we engrave it, check it over and get it ready for pickup or Canada Post.

📜 Engraving Grandma’s Recipe (or Anything Handwritten)

A recipe in a loved one’s own handwriting is the gift that makes people cry at Christmas (the good kind of crying). Here’s how to send it so it engraves beautifully:

• Scan it on a flatbed scanner at 300 DPI. Your printer’s scanner, the library or an office store all do the job. Phone photos come out tilted and shadowy, and the laser faithfully engraves every shadow it sees.
• Scan the whole card, edges and all. Don’t crop it. We’ll do the tidying.
• Stains, splatters and margin notes are part of the story. Keep them or clean them up, your call.
• Faded pencil or ink? Send it anyway. We’ll rescue what we can and tell you honestly if it won’t engrave well.
• Photos and logos: the biggest, clearest file you have. A tiny picture saved off social media won’t cut it (literally).
• Upload it right on this page (JPG, PNG, PDF or TIFF, up to 25 MB). More than one card? Upload one and e-mail us the rest after you order.

Recipes, handwriting, photos and logos take real workshop time to turn into a crisp engraving, so they carry a design fee (from $25). We quote it up front, send you a proof, and nothing gets engraved until you say go.

A Little Note on Stock

Some of these boards are sitting in the Barn waiting for a job. Others we order in when you pick them, which is how we keep the price down. Good things, a little patience.

Care

Hand wash with warm, soapy water and dry it right away. Never put it in the dishwasher or leave it soaking. Rub in a little food-safe board oil now and then, and it’ll look great for years.
